Building and International Caucus Coalition

July 15th, 2009 | Posted by Jonathan Shradar

While in Tanzania last week the Malaria Policy Center team met with members of the Tanzanian Parliament Malaria Caucus. They have been meeting and planning how best to fight malaria in their country and are coming up with some creative ways to tell their constituents that malaria is not in fact a way of life and they can prevent and treat it.

The Policy Center will be looking to bring Caucuses like the one in Tanzania together with the U.S. Congressional Malaria Caucus to share successes and see first hand how policy makers in malaria endemic nations are working to end the disease.

In Tanzania a caucus is a fairly new idea so this effort against malaria is breaking new ground. You might be surprised to know however that the U.S. caucus is just over a year old; so these groups of policy makers around the globe can grow together and realize an end to malaria deaths.

It is meetings like these that create new relationships and help us get a step closer to our goal of ridding the world of malaria.
