Zanzibar First Vice President, Mr Seifa Sharif Hamad, said yesterday that Zanzibar has been a success story in the fight against malaria.

Malaria No More Policy Center recently traveled to Tanzania and Zanzibar with a U.S. Senate staff delegation to view firsthand the remarkable impact of U.S.-funded malaria programs, as well as learn more about the current malaria-related challenges in the region.  Traveling to Dar es Salaam, as well as the Lakes Region and Zanzibar, the delegation participated in hands-on activities such as bed net distributions, donning protective gear and joining an Indoor Residual Spraying team, and touring labs and facilities where the RTS,S malaria vaccine candidate is in clinical trials.
