The World Bank has developed a Malaria Booster Program to supplement other malaria programs around the world. The concept is to use the Bank's comparative advantage to work in addressing malaria and make funding available to countries to enhance existing programs to combat the disease.

The President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) represents an historic five-year expansion of U.S. Government resources to fight malaria in Africa which is most affected by the disease. President George W. Bush launched this initiative with the goal of reducing malaria-related deaths by 50 percent in 15 focus countries. The program continues to recieve financial support from the last presidential administration, as well as the current, along with Congress.

UNITAID’s mission is to contribute to scaling up access to treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis, primarily for people in low-income countries. UNITAID achieves this by contributing to lowering the cost of diagnostics and medications as well as making these tools available quickly.

The Malaria Policy Center would like to recognize these outstanding individuals whether they be an individual businessman contributing resources or an elected politician raising awareness about the disease on Capitol Hill.

The Global Fund is an organization that works closely in collaboration with other bilateral and multilateral organizations to support existing efforts dealing with HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. The Global Fund is the main source of finance for programs fighting theses three diseases, contributing three quarters of all international financing for malaria. The Global Fund enables countries to strengthen health systems by making improvements to infrastructure and providing training to those who deliver services.
