Success Story #47

The video above is an interview with a local man in Mali who has benefitted from the efforts of Project Muso.  Watch the video in its entirety to hear the English translation, which begins at roughly the 3.20 minute mark.

On one occasion, this man contracted life threatening malaria and even though he was unable to afford medication himself, Project Muso was able to provide him with the treatments he needed.  The project also provided malaria interventions for his entire family.  For these reasons, he and his family are greatful and very pleased with the community based outreach they received.

Project Muso believes that lasting change will occur when community members fuel the changes in care, and are supported by partnerships with existing health systems and structures.  For this reason, Project Muso has partnered with Mali's Ministry of Health, the DNLP, the Commune VI Health Reference Center (CSREF), the Yirimadjo CSCOM, and the Yirimadjo Community Action Committee in launching the Community Based Malaria Program as a pilot program to provide malaria interventions to communities.

Project Muso quickly discovered that the incorporation of faith elements in these local communities were crucial to the success of the program.  As a result, the program reached out to faith leaders in order to help spread the malaria message.

The result are individual success stories, like this mans, where malaria is being defeated at the community level.  Malaria is a disease that requires an all hands on deck approach, the partnerships between faith communities, national governments, health organizations and many others are key for our continued success.
