World Malaria Day was celebrated broadly in Tanzania. As part of the Zinduka campaign (wake up!) artists held performances, videos were shown and exhibition booths were set up in Mnazi Mmoja park in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania in order to raise awareness and help educated individuals about malaria.
St Therese of Lisieux School Provides Malaria Education to its Students
In Tanzania, the St. Therese of Lisieux school seeks to create a quality education base for the children in Tanzania and therefore support national and international efforts of promoting children welfare and education. But they also educate children about malaria by including information about how to recognize and prevent the disease in their lesson plans.
The Global Health Corps (GHC) believes that a global movement of individuals and organizations fighting for improved health outcomes and access to healthcare for the poor is necessary in order to change the unacceptable status quo of extreme inequity. GHC works to build this movement by recruiting, training, and supporting the movement's future leaders and by diversifying the pool of young people working in global health.
Professor David Mwakyusa, Tanzania's Minister of Health, spoke with the Malaria Policy Center about World Malaria Day and the disease recently. Professor Mwakyusa touched on many topics including the devastating affects of malaria and the potential for ending the disease.
