Malaria Caucus Expands

The Congressional Malaria Caucus Expands and the Senate Working Group Holds its Inaugural Event

Malaria Policy Center Welcomes New Advocates

Washington, D.C.- In order to help in the fight against malaria and achieve the first great humanitarian victory of this century by ending malaria deaths, Representatives Dan Burton, Bob Inglis, Michael McCaul and Mike Pence recently announced that they are joining the Congressional Malaria Caucus now totaling 58 members.

The Malaria Policy Center welcomes these Congressional champions and looks forward to assisting them in our great unified cause of stopping a disease that disproportionally affects the most vulnerable populations around the world.

While members of the House of Representatives are working collectively to combat malaria, The Senate Working Group on Malaria is also taking on the issue by hosting its first event yesterday.  At a briefing for Senate staff t, Mark Green, Director of the Malaria Policy Center, was joined by Natasha Bilimoria, Director of Friends of the Global Fight, and Dr. Christian Loucq of the Malaria Vaccine Initiative to discuss malaria progress and issues with Senate staffers.

Both of these events reflect the strong commitment on Capitol Hill to provide the tools and resources needed to fight malaria around the world and save lives.  The Malaria Policy Center applauds this commitment.
